Hakim Danish Begins Moto3 Campaign in Thailand

Malaysia’s Hakim Danish kicks off his first full Moto3 World Championship season at the Thailand Grand Prix in Buriram, aiming for a strong start in a highly competitive 2026 campaign.

Malaysian rider Hakim Danish will begin his first full-season campaign in the Moto3 World Championship this week, with the season-opening round in Thailand marking the start of his journey on the global stage.

The 18-year-old Terengganu-born talent heads to the Thailand Grand Prix, which takes place from 27 February to 1 March at the Chang International Circuit. The Buriram circuit will serve as the first test of his readiness to compete consistently at world championship level.

Hakim arrives in Thailand confident after completing an intensive pre-season programme at the Algarve International Circuit and the Circuito de Jerez. The testing sessions allowed him to refine his physical conditioning, strengthen his race fitness and further understand the technical demands of the Moto3 machinery.

Having made three wildcard appearances in Moto3 last season, Hakim has already gained valuable exposure to the pressures of competing against the world’s best young riders. That experience has helped him identify critical areas for improvement, particularly maximising qualifying performance and sharpening race-day strategy. He now begins the season determined to convert that learning curve into consistent results.

The 2026 Moto3 grid features one of the most competitive rookie line-ups in recent years. JuniorGP and Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup champion Brian Uriarte joins Red Bull KTM Ajo, while other promising newcomers include Marco Morelli with Aspar Team, Casey O’Gorman at SIC58 Squadra Corse, and the Honda Team Asia duo of Veda Pratama and Zen Mitani.

Hakim concluded last season’s Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in third overall, a result that underlined his potential to compete at the front. As he embarks on his first full campaign, his camp has adopted a balanced approach, prioritising steady development and competitiveness rather than immediate results-based pressure.

The broader objective for the season remains to fight consistently within the leading group and, if possible, challenge for at least one podium finish.

For the opening round in Buriram, the focus will be on establishing strong momentum from the first free practice session. With his preparations complete and confidence high, Hakim Danish now turns his attention to translating promise into performance as his Moto3 mission officially gets underway in Thailand.
