Honda HRC Progressive’s Hunter Lawrence delivered a strong performance at round two of the 2026 AMA Supercross in San Diego, battling at the front of the 450SX field before securing a hard-fought second-place finish. Teammate Chance Hymas endured a mixed night in 250SX West, finishing sixth after a late-race mistake.
Lawrence grabbed the 450SX holeshot aboard his CRF450RWE and led much of the early race, fending off pressure from Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac. After briefly losing the lead on lap eight, the Australian stayed composed and mounted a late charge, passing Roczen with six laps remaining before closing in on Tomac. He made a final push on the last lap but ultimately crossed the line just 1.6 seconds behind in second. Joey Savatgy added to Honda’s strong showing with fifth place.

In 250SX West, Hymas started third and ran near the front before a small mistake over a jump cost him positions. Despite an impressive save, he slipped to sixth at the finish.
Lawrence now sits third in the 450SX standings, two points behind Ken Roczen, while Hymas remains third in 250SX West, four points behind Max Anstie.
Next up is AMA Supercross round three this Saturday at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
