Honda has taken its biggest step yet into electric two-wheel mobility, revealing the all-new WN7 to the world at EICMA 2025 in Milan. The bike marks Honda’s first-ever electric model developed for what the brand calls the “FUN” segment. Not a scooter, not a commuter, but a proper motorcycle built for enjoyment and riding emotion.

A new brand direction for electric Honda motorcycles

The WN7 is the first model shaped under Honda’s renewed electric identity. Its development philosophy, “Be the Wind,” reflects an entirely different riding experience. It exudes silence, smoothness and connection to the environment, while still serving up the instant hit of torque that only an EV can deliver. Honda wants riders to feel like they’re slicing cleanly through the air, hearing the city and the world around them, instead of overpowering it with the noise of an engine.

New visual language

Honda uses the WN7 to set the design tone for its future electric motorcycles. A continuous horizontal light bar creates a clear visual signature at the front. The restrained black colour palette with metallic gold hardware establishes styling elements that Honda plans to carry forward on upcoming EV models. The body adopts deliberately clean, smooth and minimal contact surfaces to reinforce a pure, functional form.

Radical chassis approach

Mechanically, the WN7 breaks away from motorcycle convention. It doesn’t use a frame in the traditional sense. The central aluminium battery case actually forms the structural core of the motorcycle, with the steering head and swingarm pivot mounted directly to it. The result is a slimmer shape, reduced weight and tight mass centralisation. All of which translates into quick reactions and light steering.

Real performance + real practicality

Power comes from a compact liquid-cooled motor and inverter unit producing up to 50 kW and 100 Nm of torque. This is performance in the realm of a 600 cc to 1000 cc class ICE bike. The final drive uses a gearbox and belt system for smoothness and low noise.

Charging flexibility becomes one of the WN7’s strongest selling points. The 9.3 kWh battery supports CCS2 fast charging, which brings the charge level from 20% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes. With regular charging, the battery can reach 0–100% in under 2.4 hours. Honda targets a WMTC range of around 140 km, which provides more than adequate distance for everyday riding without compromise.

New EV riding features

Honda has fitted the WN7 with regenerative braking that activates naturally when rolling off the throttle. The intensity of the regen effect can be customised with a selector switch, allowing riders to choose between light, coasting-style deceleration or stronger engine-brake-like behaviour. A low-speed “Walking Mode” makes tight manoeuvres and parking effortless, moving the bike forward or backwards at a walking pace.

The beginning of Honda’s electric era

Production will take place in Japan at Honda’s Kumamoto Factory, with international rollout beginning in regions where the EV transition is already accelerating.

The WN7 isn’t just Honda’s first electric motorcycle. It’s the foundation on which Honda will build its next generation of clean, quiet performance machines.
