Chinese electric motorcycle manufacturer YADEA has officially chosen Thailand as its regional production hub. This marks a major step in the company’s expansion across Southeast Asia. The move follows YADEA’s receipt of an Investment Promotion Certificate from Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI). This milestone grants tax incentives and affirms the company’s legal and operational status in the country.
Jack Yang, CEO of YADEA Thailand, received the certification from Sutthiket Thudpitak, Deputy Secretary-General of the BOI, on September 26, 2025.
The company’s immediate target is to become Thailand’s number one electric motorcycle brand.
Building an ASEAN Manufacturing Powerhouse
YADEA’s manufacturing facility, located in Bang Sao Thong district, Samut Prakan province, will serve as the company’s ASEAN production and innovation hub. The factory currently has a production capacity of 500,000 units per year. It has plans to expand to 600,000 units within three years.
The site will employ over 80% Thai workers. Thus, it creates more than 500 local jobs and supports the country’s growing EV ecosystem.
The facility will also serve as a research and development base. It will incorporate advanced automation and data-driven production processes to support regional exports and technology transfer across ASEAN markets.
Local Production, Local Benefits
Following BOI certification, YADEA’s Thai-built electric motorcycles are eligible for legal registration and tax incentives, reinforcing consumer confidence and expanding accessibility.
The company’s popular models, including the Velax, VoltGuard, RS20, and Ova, cater to Thailand’s growing demand for urban, eco-friendly commuting solutions.
YADEA currently operates over 70 dealerships nationwide and plans to increase that number to more than 100 by the end of 2025, ensuring widespread product availability and after-sales support.
Strengthening Thailand’s EV Ambitions
YADEA’s expansion aligns with Thailand’s national EV strategy, which aims to make the country a major production hub for electric vehicles in Asia. With global EV adoption accelerating, YADEA’s investment strengthens Thailand’s position as a regional leader in sustainable mobility manufacturing.
By combining smart technology, local talent, and strategic investment, YADEA’s Thai operations are set to play a key role in shaping the future of electric mobility across ASEAN, one intelligent motorcycle at a time.
