Moto Honda da Amazônia Ltda. (HDA), Honda’s long-established motorcycle and power product subsidiary in Brazil, has announced a R$1.6 billion (USD 300 million) investment plan to expand its Manaus manufacturing plant between 2026 and 2029. The move underscores Honda’s confidence in Brazil’s rapidly growing motorcycle market and reaffirms the brand’s long-term commitment to the region.
Meeting Surging Demand in a Fast-Growing Market
The investment will focus on expanding production capacity, modernizing equipment, and enhancing factory logistics to keep pace with surging demand. By 2026, annual production is expected to rise from 1.4 million to 1.6 million units, supported by the creation of approximately 350 new jobs.
The Manaus plant, operational since 1976, currently produces 19 motorcycle models ranging from 110cc commuters to 1100cc adventure and performance bikes. Beyond serving the Brazilian market, HDA exports to 17 countries, including the United States, Australia, and Mexico, with over 31 million units produced to date.

Brazil’s motorcycle industry has experienced a sharp increase in sales in recent years, driven by the rise of personal mobility solutions and the booming delivery sector, both of which accelerated during and after the pandemic. Honda’s expansion aims to meet these evolving mobility demands while maintaining quality and production efficiency.
The four-year plan includes the installation of new assembly equipment, reconfiguration of production lines for improved workflow, and upgrades to logistics systems, all intended to create a more agile and sustainable manufacturing ecosystem.
Nearly Half a Century in the Heart of the Amazon
Founded in 1975, Moto Honda da Amazônia is Honda’s first manufacturing subsidiary outside Japan dedicated exclusively to motorcycles. Today, the plant employs around 9,000 people, producing iconic models such as the CG160, Biz125, POP110i, CB300F Twister, ADV160, and CRF1100L Africa Twin.
The Manaus facility not only powers Brazil’s position as one of the world’s largest motorcycle markets, but also plays a vital role in Honda’s global production network, combining advanced Japanese engineering with deep local expertise.
With this latest investment, Honda reinforces its message: Brazil isn’t just a key market, it’s a cornerstone of the company’s future in Latin America.
