Jack Miller’s generosity towards trackside fans at the San Marino MotoGP in Misano came at a price, a hefty €2000 fine (approximately RM10,200).

The Pramac Yamaha rider noticed a sign during Sunday’s rider parade asking for his gloves in exchange for a beer. True to his word, the Australian made the gesture after finishing 12th in the grand prix.

On his cool-down lap, Miller stopped in search of the fans but realised he had already passed their spot on the back straight. Determined to keep his promise, he made a U-turn across the track, eventually reaching the group and handing over his gloves.

However, the move violated MotoGP regulations. Rule 1.21.11 clearly states that riders must not ride in the opposite direction on the track or pit lane unless directed by an official.

Race stewards deemed Miller’s U-turn as “causing potential danger to yourself and others who were still completing their slow down lap.” The penalty: a €2000 fine.

To make matters worse, Miller admitted he never even got the promised beer in return for his efforts.

Despite the incident, Miller remain in Misano for Monday’s official MotoGP test, where he ride Yamaha’s the new V4 prototype again.
