We’ve all heard our fair share of creepy stories from delivery riders, and some of them are so eerie, they’re basically urban legends on two wheels.
In this week’s feature, we spoke to a few Malaysian delivery riders who were willing to share their spine-tingling experiences while on the job. And let’s just say, you might not look at late-night deliveries the same way again.
1. Disappearing Graveyard Delivery
One rider we spoke to had what he described as the most disturbing delivery he’s ever made and it started off like any normal evening. He received an order late at night, with the pinned location somewhere near a small kampung on the outskirts of town. Nothing unusual, until he got closer.
“The pin showed a spot next to a railing by a quiet road. I stopped my bike and called the customer to ask exactly where the house was. The guy answered casually and just said, ‘Yeah bro, just hop over the railing and walk straight in. You’ll see a grave with flowers on it, that’s the spot.’”
Thinking maybe the guy was just messing around, the rider hesitated. But curiosity (and his delivery rating) got the better of him. He looked over the railing and sure enough, there was a path leading into what looked like a graveyard. Not just one or two graves, a full-blown cemetery.
“I didn’t want to overthink it, so I climbed over and walked down the path with the food in my hand. I kept telling myself maybe it’s just a house near the back. But every step I took, it got quieter. No dogs barking, no insects, just silence. Then I realised… the grave with the flowers was exactly where the pin stopped.”
As instructed, he placed the food neatly on the grave, looked around (still no sign of a real customer), and decided enough was enough.
“I turned around and started walking back, fast. It felt like something was following me. You know that feeling when your body tells you to get out? That was me. I didn’t even bother climbing the railing properly, I just jumped over and sped off. I didn’t sleep well that night.”
The next day, he tried to report the order on the delivery app, but strangely, it wasn’t in his history. Like it never happened
2. The White Cloth at a Flat
Another delivery rider recalled a chilling experience while delivering food to an apartment late at night. “It was around 11:30 p.m., I was delivering to a unit on the 12th floor of a flat. The building was quiet, too quiet, and the lift lights kept flickering. When I reached the door, I knocked, and someone slowly opened it,” he said.
Standing there was a person completely wrapped in a white cloth, from head to toe. No greeting. No facial expression. Just reached out, took the food, and closed the door silently.
“I froze for a few seconds. My brain was still processing what I just saw. I quickly turned around and got back into the lift. On my way out, my bike felt… heavier, like I was carrying a pillion. I kept checking behind me all the way home. I didn’t see anything, but the feeling stayed.”

3. The Empty Unit Scammer
Some horror stories are more on the psychological side and this one’s about a rider dealing with a mysterious (and suspiciously persistent) customer.
“I kept getting orders from the same apartment unit every other week. Nothing weird at first, but the customer always complained, either said the food was late, wrong, or never arrived. Once, they even claimed they didn’t order anything.”
Out of curiosity, the rider asked a nearby resident about the unit.
“They told me the unit had been vacant for over a year. Nobody had lived there since the last tenant passed away. That freaked me out. After that, I blocked that location from my app. I don’t care if it was a system error or something else. Never going back there.”
4. Lorong A and the Palm Oil Trees That Vanished
“One day, I was doing a delivery to a small village near Port Klang. As usual, I followed the GPS but couldn’t find the house, so I called the customer for directions. They told me the house was along Lorong A (I can’t remember the full name). I found the lorong and turned in, but it was all palm oil trees and dirt road. I thought, ‘No way someone’s living in here… is this a prank?’ But I kept going anyway.”
“Halfway in, I started to feel really uneasy. So I called the customer again and they told me, ‘What palm oil trees? It’s just houses here.’ That really freaked me out. I turned back out onto the main road and stopped at a petrol station. I called the customer again and asked them to wait by the roadside instead. They agreed.”
“So I went back to the same location, and saw the customer waving at me, right at the same Lorong A I went into earlier. But this time, it was completely different. There were no palm oil trees, just a regular housing area. I dropped off the food, didn’t say much, and left straight away. No joke, I got home and was down with a fever for two days.”
These riders brave more than just traffic and bad weather. Sometimes, their routes take them through the unexplained. The next time your food is a bit late, remember, it might not be the traffic that held them up.
