Marc Márquez delivered a stunning wet-weather comeback to win the Sachsenring Sprint race, giving the Ducati Lenovo Team its latest triumph on a dramatic Saturday in Germany. Márquez’s charge to victory also made MotoGP history. The Spaniard claimed his tenth Sprint win in eleven attempts, an outright record in the format.

Starting from pole position, Márquez ran wide into Turn 1 and dropped to fifth. However, the eight-time World Champion quickly regained his rhythm. After carefully managing tyre temperature in the opening laps, he began carving through the field with clinical precision. On the final lap, he surged past Marco Bezzecchi to take the lead and never looked back. Thus, securing a sensational win in treacherous conditions.

“The start was difficult, especially after going wide at Turn 1,” said Márquez. “Once I saw the pace was there and I could close the gap without pushing too hard, I committed. When I saw the 1’28s, I knew I had the pace to go for it.”

While Márquez celebrated another Sprint triumph, teammate Francesco Bagnaia endured a frustrating outing. Starting 11th on the grid, Bagnaia struggled for grip and balance throughout the 15-lap race and ultimately crossed the line in 12th place, unable to find comfort with the revised setup tested after qualifying.

“I’m disappointed with today and my performance,” Bagnaia admitted. “We made a big change before the race, but it only made things worse. I had no confidence in the front and the rear was constantly sliding. We need to rethink our direction for Sunday.”

The Ducati Lenovo Team now shifts focus to the full-distance German Grand Prix on Sunday, where Márquez will look to continue his dominant run, and Bagnaia will aim for redemption.

With Marc Márquez in record-breaking form, all eyes are on whether he can complete the weekend sweep at Sachsenring.
