In a sport often defined by rivalry and individual glory, Andrea Iannone’s response to Toprak Razgatlioglu’s leap to MotoGP stands out, not just for its warmth but for what it reveals about the deeper bond between riders across classes.

Speaking from the WorldSBK paddock, Iannone — now riding for Team Pata Go Eleven — expressed unfiltered joy at Toprak’s long-awaited transition to MotoGP. For the Italian, this isn’t just a career move for the Turkish ace. It’s a watershed moment for all of motorcycle racing.

“It’s very good news for all of the motorcycle world. Toprak achieved a really great opportunity for himself,” said Iannone. “I’m happy for him because I know how much he wanted that chance.”

Iannone’s perspective is rare and relevant. He’s one of the few on the grid who has raced at the highest level of MotoGP before returning to Superbikes — meaning he understands, perhaps better than anyone, the magnitude of Toprak’s next challenge.

Having endured both the glamour and the grind of MotoGP, Iannone knows what awaits Razgatlioglu: relentless media attention, brutal development schedules, and the pressure to perform in a category where tenths of a second mean everything. But he also knows the thrill — and believes Toprak is ready for it.

“I think he will have a lot of fun with them in MotoGP, so good luck Toprak!” he added with a smile.

While Toprak’s departure leaves a competitive gap in WorldSBK — one that rivals like Nicolo Bulega have already acknowledged with mixed feelings — Iannone’s words highlight something more important: recognition that WorldSBK is no longer just a destination, but a springboard. A proving ground worthy of global attention.

In a time when divisions often define championships, Iannone’s heartfelt send-off is a reminder of the camaraderie that underpins the Superbike community — and of the universal respect shared by those who dare to go fast on two wheels.
