In a bold move, Harley-Davidson® and MotoGP will launch a global racing championship in 2026. The new series merges American muscle with global motorsport prestige and features Harley-Davidson bagger motorcycles. It will include twelve races held over six MotoGP weekends across Europe and North America. Each round will feature two races with a grid of powerful, race-prepped Harley-Davidson Road Glide® motorcycles.
Race-Ready Baggers at Full Throttle
This isn’t your average cruiser parade. The motorcycles are engineered by Harley-Davidson Factory® Racing. It weighs in at approximately 280 kg (617 pounds), yet churns out over 200 horsepower and 245 Nm (180 lb-ft) of torque. Built for performance and spectacle, these machines will reach speeds exceeding 300 km/h (186 mph), with every bike on the grid identically prepared to ensure pure rider-to-rider competition.
The series will feature six to eight teams, each fielding two riders, and will be fully supported by Harley-Davidson Factory Racing. The new championship aims to deliver dramatic, close-quarters racing, unlike anything previously seen on a Grand Prix weekend.
A New Chapter in Harley’s Racing Evolution
Harley-Davidson CEO Jochen Zeitz heralded the championship as a defining moment for the brand:
“This is a bold new step for Harley-Davidson’s global racing ambitions. We’ve seen how performance resonates with riders and fans. With this new series, we’re excited to bring a new form of racing to the world stage—honoring our heritage while pushing into the future.”
Building on momentum from the MotoAmerica King of the Baggers series and performance-led models like the CVO Road Glide ST, Harley-Davidson now takes its racing DNA to the world stage under the MotoGP spotlight.
MotoGP Embraces the American Icon
MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports is equally enthusiastic. CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta commented:
“This collaboration is an exciting opportunity to bring our sport to new audiences. Harley-Davidson is a perfect partner—an iconic lifestyle brand from the US joining the greatest motorcycle racing show on earth. The potential for spectacle and global fan engagement is huge.”
The partnership between Dorna and Harley-Davidson represents not just a racing initiative. It is a cultural fusion that aims to broaden the appeal of motorcycle racing across continents and demographics.
With the roar of high-powered baggers joining the Grand Prix stage, 2026 promises a spectacular new chapter in motorsports. It’s where V-twin thunder meets MotoGP adrenaline.
