After years away from the two-wheeled scene, Can-Am has returned with a statement — and the world has noticed. The brand’s first electric motorcycles, the Can-Am Pulse and Can-Am Origin, have won the prestigious iF Design Award, one of the design world’s most respected honours.
This recognition marks a major milestone not just for Can-Am, but for the evolution of electric motorcycles. Developed by BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products), the Pulse and Origin represent a fresh, design-led approach to EV mobility — blending form, function, and forward-thinking technology.
Designed to Stand Out — and Ride Hard
Both motorcycles are powered by a Rotax E-Power motor delivering 47 hp and 53 lb-ft of torque, fed by an 8.9-kWh liquid-cooled battery system designed to reduce wear and optimize charging. While the two share many mechanical elements, they cater to very different riders.
- The Pulse is built for the city — sleek, agile, and perfect for daily commutes.
- The Origin, on the other hand, brings versatility to the table as a capable dual-sport built for mixed terrain.
What sets these bikes apart isn’t just performance — it’s the attention to detail in their design. Their sharp lines, intuitive tech integration, and overall ride experience helped them stand out to the 131 international design experts who evaluated entries for the iF Design Award.

A Statement of Intent
“This isn’t just about good looks,” said Denys Lapointe, BRP’s Chief Design Officer. “It’s about changing expectations. These bikes are our statement — that electric motorcycles can be stylish, smart, and incredibly fun to ride.”
The iF Design Awards judges products across innovation, usability, sustainability, and visual impact. Can-Am’s electric duo checked all the boxes, affirming the brand’s successful re-entry into the motorcycle space with a future-focused lens.
Building Momentum for Can-Am
Both the Origin and Pulse made their riding debut in late 2024, and early impressions were glowing. Reviewers praised their design, build quality, and ride feel — noting that if range continues to improve, Can-Am could easily become a frontrunner in the electric motorcycle market.
The Origin hit dealerships in January 2025, with the Pulse following shortly after. Both are now available through Can-Am’s dealer network.
With this global award under its belt and a fresh take on electric mobility, Can-Am has made it clear: it’s not just back — it’s here to lead.
