Honda CB1000 Hornet Set to Enter Production

New reports suggest Honda’s 2024 CB1000 Hornet, alongside a potential high-performance SP model, will soon hit the market, boasting increased power and upgraded features.

The highly anticipated Honda CB1000 Hornet is rumoured to be nearing production, following its announcement last year at EICMA in Italy. The 999cc inline-four Hornet was revealed as a 2024 model by the Japanese manufacturer, marking its place as the flagship in Honda’s naked bike lineup, sitting above the CB750 and CB500 Hornet models.

Recent reports from Motorcycle.com suggest that the Honda CB1000 has appeared in type approval documents in Germany, alongside a previously unmentioned CB1000SP variant. Both models are confirmed to meet Euro5+ emission standards. While specific details about the SP model are still under wraps, it is expected to produce 155 bhp, an increase from the stock model CB1000’s 147 bhp.

This would make the CB1000 and CB1000SP the second and third most powerful motorcycles in Honda’s lineup, behind the CBR1000RR, though still slightly trailing rivals like Yamaha’s MT-10 and MT-10 SP, which boast 158hp and 163hp, respectively.

Though official specifications for the chassis have not been released, industry speculation suggests the SP variant may feature more adjustable suspension, high-performance brakes, and upgraded riding modes to further enhance its performance.

If Honda sticks to the details shared at EICMA, the standard CB1000 Hornet will come equipped with a 41mm SFF-BP inverted fork and a rear shock from Showa. Additionally, Cycleworld.com reports that Honda confirmed three riding modes and a 5-inch TFT display with connectivity for both Android and iOS.

Rumours are also circulating that Honda may introduce a half-faired CB1000S Hornet model alongside the naked version, with sources in Japan hinting at its production debut later this year. While this remains speculative, the upcoming Milan bike show could be the stage for Honda to unveil one or both models.

Honda is known for its major product announcements at the start of EICMA, and with the event approaching, fans may not have to wait long to see what the brand has in store for its CB1000 Hornet lineup.
