Fabio Quartararo nearly clinched a season-best top-six finish at Sunday’s Emilia Romagna MotoGP at Misano but fell short after running out of fuel on the final approach.

Starting ninth, Quartararo quickly moved up a position and benefited from an early crash by Brad Binder to advance to seventh. His aim was a top-six finish, but maintaining pace with the front runners proved challenging. Despite the crash of Pedro Acosta and Francesco Bagnaia, which elevated him to fifth, Quartararo found himself defending against a persistent Franco Morbidelli.

In the closing laps, Quartararo managed to keep Morbidelli at bay until fuel shortage at the penultimate corner dropped him to seventh by race end, finishing 20.922s behind the winner, Enea Bastianini.

Reflecting on the race, Quartararo remained optimistic: “Even with the fuel issue at the end, this has been one of our best performances this year,” he commented. He expressed hopes for similar success in the upcoming races overseas, noting improvements in his riding and the team’s recent efforts.

With this result, Quartararo now stands 13th in the championship with 73 points. Meanwhile, his team, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, holds ninth in the team standings, and Yamaha maintains fourth in the constructors’ championship.

Looking ahead, Quartararo’s teammate Alex Rins is expected to return for the Indonesian Grand Prix following his absence in Emilia Romagna due to illness.
