Red Bull KTM motocross rider Chase Sexton clinched the 2024 AMA Pro Motocross 450 Class Championship in spectacular fashion, leading the Factory Racing team to victory in the final round at the Ironman National.
The 24-year-old American secured the title by sweeping both motos, marking his seventh overall win in the 11-round season and capping off a remarkable first outdoor campaign with KTM.
Sexton, riding the KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition, dominated the day by qualifying fastest and sealing the championship with a flawless Moto 1 victory. He then claimed his 13th moto win of the series in the final race, securing his first-career Pro Motocross crown and delivering KTM its first 450MX title since Ryan Dungey in 2015.
Reflecting on his achievement, Sexton said, “The championship’s what we came for, and we accomplished that. This is the best form I’ve had to date in my career, and the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team is awesome. Every title you get makes you want to win more. I’m stoked!”
Teammate Aaron Plessinger also delivered a strong performance, finishing second on the 450MX podium with 2-2 results, securing third place in the final standings. Plessinger’s consistent form this season, including six podium finishes, positions him well for the upcoming SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Finals series.
In the 250MX class, Tom Vialle achieved his first overall victory of the 2024 season, finishing second in the final standings after a hard-fought day at Ironman. Vialle’s wire-to-wire opening moto win and subsequent fourth-place finish in Moto 2 earned him a well-deserved spot on the podium, capping off his second season in AMA Pro Motocross with seven overall podiums.
Julien Beaumer, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s 18-year-old newcomer, was named 250MX Rookie of the Year, finishing 11th in the championship despite a challenging final round.
The next race for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing is scheduled for September 7 in Concord, North Carolina, at the SMX Playoff 1.
