Norton Motorcycles has been undergoing a significant rebuild for several months now. Enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the arrival of new models. According to company executives, this wait might soon be over.
The brand made headlines in 2020 when news hit that then-CEO Stuart Garner had mismanaged company funds. Much of this money came from pension investments. Garner was removed from his position, narrowly avoiding jail time. Subsequently, Indian manufacturing giant TVS acquired Norton, embarking on a mission to restore its former glory.
Since the acquisition, Norton has been gradually rebuilding its lineup. The company introduced a new Commando 961 and a production V4CR superbike. Chinese manufacturer Zongshen developed a motorcycle using an engine based on Norton’s technology. For many international buyers, this Zongshen bike is the closest they’ve come to experiencing a modern Norton outside the UK. Up to now, Norton has been primarily selling revised versions of pre-TVS designs.
Starting in 2025, Norton will begin selling entirely new designs developed under TVS’s ownership. A TVS executive confirmed this in an interview with Autocar India. These new models will be available worldwide, maintaining the premium category synonymous with Norton since its rebirth during the Donington Park era.
TVS acquired Norton at a bargain price but has since invested over $100 million into the company. They plan for further substantial investments. While details about the upcoming bikes remain under wraps, we can expect that the lineup will include retros, naked bikes, and superbikes. This focus is consistent with Norton’s historical focus.
As the rebuild continues, the motorcycle community remains optimistic about Norton’s future. They eagerly anticipate the new era of models. These promise to uphold the brand’s prestigious heritage while incorporating modern advancements.
