In an effort to meet the Euro 4 exhaust emission regulations, Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (“MODENAS” or “the Company”), a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad, has upgraded its all-time favourite maxi-scooter, Elegan 250 ABS by introducing an all-new version, the Elegan 250 EX, with a recommended selling price of RM16,997.

The new Elegan 250 EX comes with a Euro 4 compliant, fuel injected, 4 stroke and single-cylinder, SOHC 250cc engine. It is capable of generating maximum power of 16.5 kW @ 7000 rpm and 22.4 Nm @ 6500 rpm of torque. This is a powerful unit.

The Euro 4 engine places even tighter emission compliance than the Euro 3 engine. The new model also received additional anti-emission measures. This ensures fewer toxins in the exhaust gas are released when the engine is running. With the Euro 4 engine, the new Elegan 250 EX will certainly be more fuel efficient.

Maintaining its weight at 195kg, the maxi-scooter is not particularly light. But the low centre of gravity, slim proportions and agile handling makes it glidey; and a joy to ride even when passing through heavy traffic.

Like most maxi-style scooters, this aims to rival a car in terms of comfort and performance. Comfort-wise, this scooter is a success.

The 2023 model gets a fresher and sleeker projector headlamp with LED Daytime Running Light (“DRL”). This improves visibility at any time of the day for both the rider and other road users. The signature ‘X’ shaped tail lamp greatly enhances the visibility of the machine during nighttime riding

Aside from the new projector headlamp, all the other features remain the same. This includes the multi-functional digital speedometer that does not compromise the visibility of information. It also comes with a trip meter, a digital clock, a battery voltage indicator and especially the oil service reminder for visual convenience.

Another very useful feature is a USB charger socket strategically near the handlebar. This allows riders to charge their smartphones while on the go.

The safety feature is kept intact with the dual-channel ABS that prevents the wheels from locking up and provides superior stopping power in all weather conditions.

“Modenas Elegan is known for its reputation for comfort and reliability. The model comes with two years or a 20,000km manufacturing warranty (whichever comes first), lots of great features, good ergonomics, the MODENAS name and a reputation for outstanding after-sales support. Overall, this is what people want in a value scooter. Most of the time and effort has gone into making it reliable and fuel-efficient, ended  Roslan Roskan, Chief Executive Officer of MODENAS.

The Modenas Elegan 250 EX is available now in two new colour schemes to appeal to the younger, sportier crowd.  The colours available are Matte Silver Crystal and Petroleum Blue.
