A year after being introduced through the Ducati World Premier (DWP) 2022 held in December last year, the brand new ‘adventure’ motorcycle, Ducati DesertX has finally arrived in Malaysia with a selling price of RM112,900.

The Ducati DesertX will join the ADV market as the competitor of the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally, the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin and the upcoming MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 9.5.

According to Ducati, the DesertX draws inspiration from the Cagiva Elefant machine which once competed in the Paris-Dakar Rally in the 80s and 90s.

Appearing in an all-white colour option with a combination of red finishes to resemble the Lucky Strike sponsor on the Elefant, the DesertX comes with tough off-road features.

The suspension system comes through a USD 46mm front fork from Kayaba (adjustable) and Kayaba monoshock (adjustable).

The bike comes with Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control and Ducati Quick Shift. It also has Cruise Control, Ducati Brake Light and a USB power Socket.

Despite appearing with adventure features, this Ducati DesertX is also suitable for long-distance riding. This is thanks to the help of the 21L tank. Interestingly, riders can increase the capacity of the tank to 8L. Riders can install this on the right subframe of the machine.

As for the braking aspect, it features a 320mm front brake disc matched with Brembo M50 brake callipers while assisted by Cornering ABS by Bosch.

This Ducati DesertX features a Testastretta 937cc 11-degree engine capable of producing 110hp and 92Nm.

Although the engine is borrowed from the Hypermotard and SuperSport 950 models, Ducati has updated the engine with lighter components and managed to shed 1.7kg.

The rider and pillion seats are also more comfortable and is adjustable according to comfort. According to Ducati, the pillion seat is also removable.

For this new bike, the part of the dashboard that houses the 5″ TFT screen is also higher. This allows the rider to see more easily even while standing.

The Ducati DesertX offers six riding modes that include Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro and Rally. The rider can also change the Power Mode according to comfort.
