Latest reports suggest the launch of Yamaha Y15ZR V3 aka Exciter 155, Sniper 155 VVA was initially set for 2020; however, it has been postponed to early 2021.
Earlier back in May, we came across a few spy shots of the upcoming Mx King, Yamaha Y15ZR V3 / Exciter 155 VVA/ Sniper 155 VVA. The leaked images circulated everywhere from Facebook to WhatsApp groups with a caption: “1 unit of Y15ZR V3 arrived in Hong Leong Yamaha for testing”. However, at that moment itself we knew it was a bluff. Two months later, another rumour came along claiming Yamaha is planning on launching the new Exciter 155 VVA for Vietnam in July; however, it ended up being a false claim.

Weeks later, sources from Indonesia and Thailand (iwanbanaran & Greatbiker) now report that the launch of the Yamaha Y15ZR V3 (aka Exciter 155 VVA, Sniper) was initially set for this year, however, Yamaha decided to move the launch to early next year (2021). The reason? iwanbanaran believes the delay could be because of Yamaha wanting to redesign the headlamp. More likely because of the feedback the bike received in Vietnam.
On top of this, sources from Vietnam also reported that the Yamaha Exciter 155 VVA wouldn’t be launched in the local market until Chinese New Year next year from the feedback they got from a Yamaha Motor Vietnam official.
We can’t comment much on these reports. However, given a complete bike was recently spotted; we believe Yamaha would most likely launch the next-gen Y15ZR/Exciter/ Sniper by next year at least.
When do you think the Y15ZR V3 would break cover? Do you have any comments on the claims or design of the bike? Tell us what you think!
