The BMW Motorrad Motorsport team has delivered a stellar performance in the recent races as the BMW S 1000 RR riders managed to put up great results in the various events.
International German Championship
The alpha Racing-van-Zon-BMW team managed to secure two victories in the International German Championship (IDM). Round four of the season took place in Nürburgring, Germany. Germany’s Julian Puffe The team ultimately clinched a one-two in race two, courtesy of Ukraine’s Ilya Mikhalchik. The rider failed to finish race one due to a technical issue.
Austria’s Jan Mohr (BCC Racing), on the other hand, finished his run at fifth place. Coming in at seventh in both races is EGS Moto Racing’s Jan Bühn. Marc Neuman finished ninth and eighth in both races respectively. Netherland’s Pepijin Bijsterbosch came in tenth and sixth. Puffe maintained his lead in the championship with Mikhalchik trailing behind in second place.
British Superbike Championship
The BMW riders took on round six of the British Superbike Championship (BSB) in Snetterton this weekend. Smiths Racing’s Peter Hickman finished seventh and fifth in the two Superbike races. Tyco BMW Motorrad’s Christian Iddon made his comeback at Snetterton after breaking is fibula three weeks ago at Knockhill. The rider took his BMW S 1000 RR passed the chequered flag to claim tenth and sixth place. Michael Laverty replaced Ketih Farmer for Tyco BMW Motorrad and claimed eleventh and ninth place.
As fo the Superstock race (BSB STK), Bathams Racing’s Taylor Mackenzie bagged a podium win as he came in third. Alex Olsen from Team IMR finished at sixth place.
Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship
The Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship (AA) was at Oschersleben, Germany for round four of the season. Karel Hanika of Fany Gastro BMW Motorrad won the race on his BMW S 1000 RR in the first race. He then came in runner-up in race two.
Nico Thöni (Racing4fun) and Ondřej Ježek (Fany Gastro BMW Motorrad) came in fourth and sixth in race one. However, both of them did not manage to finish race two. Ireneusz Sicora of BMW Sikora Motorsport finished tenth and seventh. Bartlomiej Lewandowski of Team LRP Poland) capped the top 10 by finishing ninth in race two.
FIM European Superstock 1000 Cup
Round 4 of the FIM European Superstock 1000 Cup (EU STK) also took place in Oschersleben. BMW racers finished on the podium in both races. Michal Filla of BMW Sikora Motorsport came home second in the opening race. Arnaud Friedrich of Team LRP Poland then finished runner-up in race two.
Canadian Superbike Championship
BMW racer Ben Young of Ben Young Racing ultimately claimed the title to secure a victorious run in the penultimate round of the championship. Trailing behind in second place is Samuel Trepanier of Blysk Racing. Wet conditions hit the tracks for race two and Young finished runner-up this time, with Trepanier fourth. BMW racer Jeff Williams ended both races in fifth place.
