While every other manufacturer competing in MotoGP has now a satellite team, Suzuki hasn’t been able to step up their MotoGP project and guarantee that more GSX-RR prototypes go to the track. But that situation is about to change if the latest rumors coming from the MotoGP paddock are to be believed.
According to rumors, the Hamamatsu factory really wants to invest much more on their MotoGP project, and with their factory team Ecstar Suzuki now almost at the same level as mains rivals from Honda, Ducati or Yamaha, the Japanese brand wants to add a second team running the GSX-RR prototype.
That team might well be the Avintia Racing.
The Spanish team is currently connected to Ducati, and they’ve been getting good results, but without a factory bike, Avintia Racing can’t expect to fight for the title of the best satellite team in MotoGP.
Suzuki is now able to offer what Avintia Racing wants, and that’s a factory bike, plus full technical support from the Japanese racing department. For now, this is nothing more than just a paddock rumor, but over the next few months’ things should heat up and we will be getting more information on this possible partnership between Suzuki and Avintia Racing.
