Small start-up companies dedicated to the world of motorbikes are getting more and more into electric power, and German brand Novus has a brand new e-bike that might spike your interest, not only because it’s very light, but it’s also beautiful!
The Novus electric motorcycle has a monocoque frame, made in carbon fiber, and houses the 14,4 kWh lithium-ion battery, placed as low as possible to allow for greater maneuverability and sporty handling. This type of construction allows Novus to tip the scale at just 39 kg, making it almost light as an electric bicycle.
Intended for city use, where the Novus will allow for a ride time of around three hours or 100 km in urban traffic, the battery will recharge 80% of its full capacity in 1 hour, and the German brand says that the electric motor, inside the rear wheel and not on the frame as usual, is capable of pushing the e-bike up to 100 km/h in a short burst, thanks to a maximum torque of 200 Nm.
It’s difficult to believe that this little electric engine is able to deliver 200 Nm of torque to the rear wheel, since other electric motorcycles, and much more powerful, aren’t able to reach that kind of performance. In this case, we need to believe the numbers quoted by Novus.
Smartphone integration is also a feature on the Novus, with the rider personal device working as digital dashboard with all the info’s on the electric engine and battery.
But this electric motorcycle isn’t just efficient and easy to ride. It’s also beautiful.
That minimalistic design is perfectly finished in carbon fiber, the LED lights are inserted into the bodywork in such a way that they’re almost invisible, while the spoked wheels and small diameter brake disc at the front complete the package.
Unfortunately, the Novus electric motorcycle will be built in small quantities, just 1000 units in total, and that will make this a very expensive electric motorcycle. Novus says that the price is of 35.000 euros (RM164.351).
