MotoGP – Petronas Yamaha SRT reveals exciting colours and lineup

MotoGP – Petronas Yamaha SRT reveals exciting colours and lineup

It’s finally here! The new Petronas Yamaha SRT team has shown the team colours for the 2019 MotoGP season, while the Malaysian oil giant also took the opportunity to reveal other riders that will feature the same colours in Moto2 and Moto3 classes this year.

During an event held at the famous Petronas Towers, in Kuala Lumpur, the Petronas Yamaha SRT team, which from now on will be the satellite Yamaha team in MotoGP after Tech3 opted to join forces with KTM (with Hafizh Syahrin also making the same move), took its new riders Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo on stage to reveal the Yamaha YZR-M1 dressed in Petronas livery.

The team has high expectations for its maiden MotoGP season, especially since Yamaha Racing will be providing a much needed factory support to its new satellite team. Franco Morbidelli, who was able to beat Hafizh Syahrin as MotoGP 2018 Rookie of the Year, will be racing a factory A-spec Yamaha YZR-M1, while MotoGP rookie Fabio Quartararo, coming from Moto2 with high expectations, will race a B-spec factory Yamaha YZR-M1.

Joining this project is also the Sepang International Circuit, making this a full Malaysian MotoGP team, and giving Malaysians one more reason to follow MotoGP this season.

Joining the two MotoGP stars on stage to unveil their 2019 liveries were the Moto2 and Moto3 Petronas Sprinta Racing riders: Khariul Idham Pawi, Ayumu Sasaki and John McPhee – with all three relishing the challenge ahead for this season.

Next on the agenda for Morbidelli and Quartararo is the Sepang Test, with the duo aiming to continue their positive 2019 pre-season testing on the 6th, 7th and 8th February.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
