If you have not heard of CF Designs Paint, here is your chance to get to know more about them. Situated in Ardmore, Oklahoma and owned by Chris Frasher, the work of the paint shop has garnered the likes of magazines and does numerous specialized paint jobs for American top gun Harley-Davidson.
“I started doing dirt bike helmets for all of my buddies because we all rode, and it just grew from there,” said Frasher, who painted his first helmet in 1988.
“I probably would not have gotten this opportunity if it wasn’t for Longhorn Scooters in Lone Grove. The owner gave me a chance in 2005 and it just took off from there.”
Frasher was given a chance to perform a custom paint job for a service manager’s bike from Texoma Harley in Sherman, Texas. “They’ve been the biggest client I’ve ever had, and it’s changed my life.”
According to Frasher, working on the new Texas Harley is his favorite aspect.
“We’re painting brand new motorcycles. They’re pulling them off the floor, tearing them apart and sending them up here,” Chris said. “It’s nice that they aren’t beat up and covered in bugs and tar.”
He enjoys matching colors and re-creating factory techniques. His recent job includes a Harley-Davidson CVO, which had stripes that faded from orange to red.
“We had to fade all of those colors and try to make it match. That’s the hardest thing- getting the right color.”
Nothing is a challenge to Frasher and in fact, he managed to recreate the color Tiffany blue for another of his projects.
“We actually took a Tiffany box and matched the color to it. The lady who ended up buying it had gone into the store with her husband to pick up his new bike, saw it and knew she had to have it. She’d never ridden a motorcycle in her life, but had to have it because it was that color.”
