Confederate Motorcycles to roll out a new Hellcat in 2020?

Confederate Motorcycles to roll out a new Hellcat in 2020?

A new model with an existing bike? Confederate Motorcycles LLC is all set to tackle the FXDR for its new Hellcat.

In case you missed out, Confederate Motorcycles LLC will commence its manufacturing of high end and high-powered big V-Twin motorcycles in Birmingham, Alabama. After being revived by the venture capital fund Ernest Lee Capital, the firm will be back on track and will continue to sell the last remaining Confederate P-51 Combat Fighters and FA-13 Combat Bombers.

What seems to be more intriguing here is that there are speculations of a new Hellcat model. According to Top Speed, the team at Confederate is set to refurbish the Harley-Davidson FXDR as the basis for the new Hellcat bike.

The FXDR 114 features the biggest of the Milwaukee-Eight 114 engines with 1868cc. It has a new chassis architecture with the 240-section rear tire and a lightweight aluminium swingarm. This is the first time that Confederate has taken up this strategy to bring up a new model using an existing bike and all o their certification compliance.

There is no doubt that the machine would carry a hefty price tag with the addition of a standard ABS. “It’s expensive. ABS would cost me about $120,00 on a model, and that’s only good on that model. So if I change the weight or something, I have to re-certify,” says Lee as quoted from Top Speed.

The new Hellcat is likely to feature a smaller motor than the 2163cc air/oil-cooled triple-camshaft V-twin of the previous models. It may be able to produce 90 hp and 1198 lb-ft of peak torque. Not to mention, it is likely to come with a 6-sped Cruise Drive Transmission and a slip and assist clutch to make it easier for the rider to shift gears.

We can also expect a new Fighter and Wraith after the launch of the Hellcat. Confederate is likely to roll out the first Hellcat later this year.
