OMOWAY Wind-Tunnel Tests Its OMO X Electric Motorcycle

OMOWAY has taken a bold step in Indonesia’s electric motorcycle landscape by revealing early wind-tunnel test results for its first smart e-motorcycle, the OMO X. The company becomes the first EV motorcycle brand in Indonesia to adopt this advanced testing method, a tool usually reserved for aerospace programs, car manufacturers, and high-performance superbikes.

The tests, conducted at a world-class aerodynamic facility in the South of France, hint at a new engineering direction for Indonesia’s EV industry: one built on scientific precision rather than guesswork.

23% Less Drag, 12% Better Efficiency

Wind tunnel testing allowed OMOWAY’s engineers to recreate real airflow and pressure patterns, fine-tuning the OMO X in ways that outdoor testing alone cannot achieve. By running the motorcycle through multiple cycles of refinement, the team achieved:

  • 23% lower aerodynamic drag
  • 12% lower overall energy consumption
  • Far better stability in crosswinds and extreme weather

These improvements translate into a smoother ride, more predictable handling, and, crucially, longer range.

Testing at the Level of Supercars and Aircraft

The wind tunnel used in the OMO X development integrates aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, and thermodynamics in one fully controlled environment. Its main fan delivers wind speeds up to 200 km/h, equivalent to the force of a Category 16 typhoon. Paired with a full-spectrum sunlight simulator, the facility can reproduce Indonesia’s sun, heat, humidity, and weather with scientific precision.

This level of testing is almost unheard of in the electric two-wheel market, especially in Southeast Asia.

A Shift Toward Auto-Grade Engineering

According to Yulong Chen, General Manager of OMOWAY Indonesia, the decision to use wind tunnels reflects the company’s commitment to building motorcycles with “true auto-grade” standards, from stability and noise control to cooling efficiency and rider comfort.

But wind tunnels are only one part of OMOWAY’s validation process. The company currently sends out more than 50 test units across Indonesia every day, clocking miles on volcanic terrain, mountain passes, and unpredictable rural roads. The goal: replicate the toughest real-world scenarios before a single production unit reaches consumers.

A Philosophy Built on Proof, Not Promises

OMOWAY’s approach is simple: engineering must earn trust through results, not marketing. The company believes that only products tested in extreme conditions can deliver long-term durability, safety, and confidence to users.

The OMO X embodies this philosophy: futuristic in design, but grounded in rigorous testing and practical performance benchmarks.
