Race 2 of Round 3 in the 2025 AEON Credit MAM Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) delivered high drama as Azroy Hakeem Anuar (Honda Racing Malaysia) showcased nerves of steel to claim victory in the MSBK1000 A category at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit.

From the moment the lights went out, Azroy stormed into the lead, but he had no breathing space as Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin (Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia) relentlessly hounded him, searching for the slightest mistake. Just behind, Azroy’s teammate Muhammad Zaqhwan Zaidi and Adam Norrodin (AMI Suzuki Motorsport) fought intensely for third position.

By Lap 2, Adam muscled past Zaqhwan to close in on the leading duo, while Andi Farid Izdihar (Astra Honda Racing) set the fastest lap of the race on Lap 4 with a 2’07.588s, gradually reeling in the front pack. At the same time, Kasma unleashed the day’s top speed of 291.1 km/h, keeping the pressure firmly on Azroy.

Despite multiple challenges, Azroy maintained control, repelling every move from Kasma. By Lap 6, Zaqhwan had regained third from Adam, restoring a strong Honda presence at the front.

The final lap was a nail-biter, with Kasma throwing everything at Azroy in a series of overtaking attempts. But the Honda rider stayed calm under immense pressure, crossing the line first in 21’23.822s, just 0.443s ahead of Kasma. Zaqhwan secured third place with a time of 21’25.957s.

After the race, Azroy reflected: “The race conditions today were extremely hot, which was exactly what I wanted, but I wasn’t able to deliver my best lap times at the 2’06 pace. I’ll need to review what was lacking this time. Regardless, I’m grateful to my team for their hard work. We need to keep this momentum and prepare strongly for Round 5 of the ARRC here at Sepang.”
