Honda is kicking off 2025 with a major design triumph. Two of its standout models — the Honda NC750X and the all-electric EM1 e: — have earned top honors in two of the world’s most prestigious design competitions.

The NC750X was named a winner at the 2025 Red Dot Design Award in the Product Design category. On the other hand, the EM1 e: claimed an iF Design Award, also for Product Design. The Red Dot Award, founded in Germany in 1955, and the iF Design Award, established a year earlier in 1954, are global benchmarks for innovation, functionality, and creativity across industries.

This marks Honda’s sixth straight year receiving a Red Dot Design Award and the third time since 1997 that it’s been honored by the iF Design jury — a sign that Honda’s rider-first, future-facing design approach keeps resonating around the world.

What Makes the Winners Stand Out?

The NC750X blends the thrill of touring with everyday versatility. Powered by a 745cc twin-cylinder engine, it offers strong, easy-to-handle torque and impressive fuel efficiency. A low center of gravity and built-in luggage storage make it a commuter’s dream without losing its adventure-ready soul.

Design played a huge role in its Red Dot win. The NC750X’s sharp, rugged styling raises expectations the moment you see it. But what really turns heads is Honda’s world-first use of plant-derived bioplastic and recycled materials for its fairing. Skipping traditional paint reduces CO₂ emissions while still delivering bold, lasting color.

Built around the idea of an “electric scooter just right for daily life,” the EM1 e: runs on Honda’s Mobile Power Pack e: — a swappable battery that makes clean commuting easy and convenient.

In design, the EM1 e: keeps it smart and simple. Its slim, lightweight profile is perfect for city living. High-brightness LEDs boost night-time safety, while the flush-surface headlight adds a fresh, iconic look that’s pure Honda.

Honda’s Take on the Wins

Toshinobu Minami, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer at Honda’s Design Center, shared his pride in the achievement:

“We’re honored to receive the Red Dot Design Award for the sixth consecutive year, and now the iF Design Award too. It shows that our passion for human-centered design is connecting with people. We’ll keep pushing to create experiences and products that inspire and expand life’s possibilities.”

With the NC750X and EM1 e:, Honda shows that good design isn’t just about style — it’s about creating meaningful, sustainable experiences that fit seamlessly into modern life.
