MotoGP has announced the extension of its long-term partnership with Sportian, the sports division of Globant, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat digital piracy. Enabled by LALIGA, co-founder of Sportian, this collaboration has already achieved significant success in removing up to 99% of pirated content across digital platforms. Over the next phase, the partnership will explore the integration of AI-powered technologies to further enhance anti-piracy measures and maintain these high standards.

Since its inception over five years ago, the partnership has successfully tracked and removed illegal broadcasts across social media, apps, video-on-demand (VOD) services, search engines, and illegal streaming sites. Sportian’s Piracy Guard, a cutting-edge anti-piracy solution, has set a new benchmark in the fight against sports piracy, combining powerful detection tools with expert analyst oversight to identify and remove unauthorized streams in real-time.

Piracy Guard provides MotoGP with both reactive removal of illegal content and proactive monitoring for emerging threats. Over the next year, Sportian plans to fine-tune these services by leveraging automation and predictive analytics to adapt to evolving piracy tactics. The partnership will also explore the integration of AI and machine learning technologies to enhance the detection and categorization of pirated content, ensuring MotoGP remains at the forefront of the fight against audiovisual theft.

MotoGP continues to achieve remarkable growth, surpassing 3 million spectators in 2024 for the first time in the sport’s history. The championship has also reported impressive increases in global TV viewership and digital engagement. This success is underpinned by MotoGP’s commitment to protecting its content and ensuring fans enjoy the sport through official channels.

Dan Rossomondo, Chief Commercial Officer of Dorna Sports, said: “Globant Sportian has been a valuable partner in safeguarding our content over the last five years. Their technology and expertise have significantly reduced the impact of piracy on our sport, ensuring that our global audience continues to enjoy the most exciting sport on Earth through the official broadcasters who invest to create a top-quality viewing experience. We are excited to extend our partnership and continue strengthening the fight against illegal streaming.”

Piracy Guard, developed from the in-house piracy team of LALIGA, holds partnerships with over 70 of the world’s largest online platforms and boasts Google TCRP certification. The solution routinely achieves a removal rate of over 90%, while gathering valuable insights to support legal actions and dynamic blocking orders.

Pablo Lo Giudice, Business Lead for Content Protection at Sportian, added: “MotoGP is a pioneer in protecting sports content for the digital era, and we are proud to extend our successful partnership. As we continue to incorporate the latest AI tools into our product suite, we will evolve our offering to ensure sports content remains secure and accessible through official channels.”

The extended partnership between MotoGP and Sportian underscores their shared commitment to innovation and excellence in the fight against piracy. By integrating advanced technologies and maintaining a proactive approach, the collaboration aims to protect the integrity of MotoGP’s content and ensure fans worldwide can enjoy the sport through legitimate platforms.
