MotoGP has unveiled a sleek new logo as the centrepiece of its brand refresh for 2025 and beyond, marking a bold departure from the iconic chequered flag design that has symbolized the championship since 2002.
The new logo, crafted by renowned design studio Pentagram, was revealed at the National Art Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona, following Sunday’s electrifying MotoGP title decider, where Jorge Martin clinched the premier class championship.
MotoGP’s fresh identity takes inspiration directly from the sport’s essence. The ‘M’ in the logo symbolizes two bikes leaning into a corner together, evoking the intensity of wheel-to-wheel action.
The circular ‘O’s represent the geometry of racing wheels, while the ‘t’ suggests a rider leaning into their machine. The final ‘GP’ pays homage to racetrack layouts, completing the dynamic and minimalist design.
This update extends beyond MotoGP, with companion logos for Moto2 and Moto3 adopting the same design philosophy to unify the championship’s visual identity.
MotoGP’s rebranding goes beyond aesthetics, encompassing a comprehensive overhaul of its visual and verbal identity. This includes new artwork, motion graphics, typefaces, and more, reflecting the championship’s ambitions for the future.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, the series promoter, expressed his excitement about the rebranding: “We’re very excited to reveal our new identity and invite fans around the world to meet the new MotoGP. A brand is more than a logo, and MotoGP is more than a sport. The process has taught us a lot about both, and we’re very proud to show the world the results.”
Angus Hyland, Creative Director and Partner at Pentagram, emphasized the honour of reshaping MotoGP’s iconic brand: “It was great to collaborate with the MotoGP team to reimagine this iconic brand. We hope fans around the world will embrace the new look and feel as MotoGP races into its next chapter.”
The new logo and brand identity signal MotoGP’s commitment to evolving with its global audience while staying rooted in the passion, speed, and adrenaline that define the sport. With this dynamic new look, MotoGP is poised to embrace its future and inspire the next generation of fans worldwide.
