Aprilia Expands Lightweight Lineup with Launch of All-New Tuono 457 Following the Sensation of RS 457 Sportbike.

Ever since Aprilia launched its RS 457 sportbike a year ago, and more recently in Malaysia, it seemed realistic that a naked variant was on the horizon. And now here it is, the new Tuono 457 was unveiled at EICMA 2024 in Milan, most probably ideal for riders focused on everyday cruising rather than aggressive track performance.

Aprilia has cleverly differentiated the Tuono 457 from its sportier RS sibling while maintaining a lightweight platform that appeals to a broad range of riders. Breaking tradition with previous Tuono models like the 660 and Tuono V4, the Tuono 457 brings a new aesthetic.

For the first time on a Tuono, the headlight and front panel are attached to the handlebar, moving as you steer. It gives the bike a dynamic look, with a stacked headlight, LED DRL, and mini winglets under the light for that extra bit of sportiness.

The Tuono 457 also gets a unique tank design, a different rear seat structure, and radiator guards—all setting it apart from the RS sibling. Built with a two-part aluminium frame linked to the steering head, its swingarm mounts directly to the engine for a blend of style and performance.

Powering the Tuono is the same 457cc DOHC twin-cylinder engine as the RS 457, putting out 47 hp at 9,400 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,700 rpm. But, Aprilia’s returned the transmission for shorter, snappier gear shifts, focusing on acceleration, perfect for city and highway rides.

The suspension setup offers comfort and control with a 41mm USD fork, and preload-adjustable rear monoshock, while braking power comes from ByBre brakes with a 320mm front disc and 220mm rear disc. There’s even a switchable ABS for the rear wheel, and the bike comes with grippy 17-inch Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres, which are probably similar to the RS 457’s 110/70 front and 150/60 rear setup.

On the tech side, Aprilia brings Ride-by-Wire—straight from their MotoGP innovations—plus three riding modes: Eco, Sport, and Rain. You can adjust traction control on the go with a handlebar button, and the 5-inch TFT colour dashboard offers Bluetooth connectivity. Fuel capacity is also a solid 13 litres, matching the RS 457.

Since the RS 457’s recent debut in Malaysia, demand is already ramping up. Starting at RM33,900, the RS has three colour options, and now the Tuono 457 is expected to join it in 2025, offering two colours: Puma Grey and Piranha Red. The latter rocks the classic Aprilia black-and-red racing vibe, channelling the brand’s racing DNA into this slick, street-focused ride.
