Speculations are that Yamaha will be introducing the Tenere with a larger engine to join the existing Tenere 700.
According to reports, Yamaha is currently actively developing a larger Tenere that allegedly adopts an 890cc CP3 engine. This also sees the Tenere portfolio will continue to grow with the 900 models along with the existing Tenere 700 and Tenere Raid 700.
Although Yamaha has introduced numerous engine variants for the Tenere-including 600cc to 1200cc, the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has received many calls for a new variant with an 890cc three-cylinder engine from the MT-09 to be introduced.
French motoring magazine, Moto-Station claims that Yamaha is developing the Tenere 900 with the test session already in the final stages.
Powered by the same engine that drives the MT-09, Tracer 9, and XSR900, this Tenere 900 will surely fill the void left by the discontinued Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere.
The upcoming Tenere 900 will definitely rival the Triumph Tiger 900, Ducati DesertX and MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 9.5.
