Boon Siew Honda announces a full model change for the 2021 Honda X-ADV for the Malaysian market. Here are the details!

2021 Honda X-ADV

Launched in 2018 in Malaysia, the Honda X-ADV is one of the premium dual-purpose scooter that is currently available in Malaysia. For 2021, Boon Siew Honda has just introduced a number of tech updates for the model earlier today. These updates are mainly around the powertrain, frame, electronic package and design. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the updated 2021 Honda X-ADV in detail!

2021 Honda X-ADV

Starting with the engine, the Honda X-ADV is powered by a 745cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke, SOHC 8-valve parallel 2-cylinder engine. Mated to a 6-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT), the 2021 Honda X-ADV pushes a peak power output of 43kW @ 6,750 rpm and a peak torque of 69 Nm @ 4,750 rpm which is +3kW and +1 Nm more compared to its predecessor. Besides this, the redline has also been bumped up by 500 rpm compared to the ongoing model.

The gearbox has also been revised, Honda says shorter ratios for 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears allow smarter acceleration while taller 4th, 5th and 6th allow relaxed high-speed cruising and optimal fuel efficiency. The Dual-clutch transmission also features automatic shifting schedules that link with the riding modes.

Speaking of riding modes, the addition of Throttle by Wire (TWB) brings 4 default riding modes: Standard, Sport, Rain and Gravel and a customizable User mode. This allows for a smoother Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system which now comes with 3 levels of intervention.

In the case of design, the styling of the 2021 Honda X-ADV has been sharpened and slimmed. Upfront, the LED headlights now come with DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). Besides this, the convenience and practicality have also been elevated with a new screen, a 1.2L glovebox and a larger 22-litre under-seat storage compartment with an inbuilt USB charging port. A centre stand with a tilt sensor is also now standard on the 2021 Honda X-ADV.

As for other electronics and features, the 2021 Honda X-ADV rolls in with a new 5 inch TFT display which comes equipped with Honda Smartphone Voice Control System. Other premium features such as Smart Key, ABS and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) are also standard on the new 2021 Honda X-ADV.

Underneath, the chassis has been revised as well. Honda says the newly designed diamond frame contributes to more than 1kg weight reduction. Suspension duties are taken care of by a 41mm USD fork up front and a Pro-Link suspension at the rear. As for the brakes, braking is done via hydraulic disc brakes at the front and rear with 2-Channel ABS.

Price and colour options

The new 2021 Honda X-ADV is available in three colours; Pearl Deep Mud Gray, Grand Prix Red, and Graphite Black with a recommended selling price of RM 67,799 in Malaysia excluding road tax, registration fee and insurance.
