Hafizh Syahrin BIOGRAPHY
Hafizh Syahrin kickstarted his career with nine years of minimoto riding. The sheer brilliance in his talent and skills earned him the nickname ‘King of the Pocket Bikes’ in Malaysia. The Ampang native made his entry to the renowned Malaysian Underbone series and secured podium victories in some races and would end proceedings third overall. Hafizh then levelled up and competed in the Asia Road Racing Championship in 2010 and finished 12th that year before moving up to fourth in 2011.
The young Malaysian then made his career first in the FIM CEV Repsol to compete in the European Moto2 category. He made his way into the World Championship Moto2 round in Malaysia and claimed fourth place and was promoted to third and his first-ever podium result. With two wins by the end of the 2013 CEV season, Hafizh made the move to the Moto2 World Championship for 2014 with Petronas Raceline Malaysia.
In 2017, he took two podium finish and it is his most impressive year to date. In 2018, Hafizh made an upward shift to the premier class with Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team replacing Jonas Folger, carving history as the first-ever Malaysian in MotoGP. In 2019 he remained with Tech 3 but they became Red Bull KTM Tech3 and switched to Austrian machinery, resulting to the number 55 not being able to properly adapt to it. He made a step back to the Moto2 class with Aspar Team and has high hopes to leap back into the premier class. As for 2021, Hafizh Syahrin has already signed a one year deal with NTS RW Racing GP team where he will be riding alongside Barry Baltus from Belgium.
