2021 Yamaha MT-09 SP Styling
In the case of the design, the MT-09 SP gets dedicated colours and graphics. Influenced by R1-M, the SP gets multi-toned black-blue paint scheme and water transferred graphics which makes it look more aggressive, premium and exclusive. To match the premium finish, the new MT-09 SP also comes with a double stitched seat.
Aside from this, the MT-09 SP gets SP-specific anodized black handlebars and levels as well as clear smoked front and rear brake fluid reservoir.
To complement the blacked-out theme and the new crystal graphite frame, the SP is equipped with anodized brushed aluminium swingarm which enhances the premium feel and sporty looks of the MT-09 SP.
Premium higher-spec suspension components
The 2021 Yamaha MT-09 SP also gets premium KYB front suspension package. The 41mm higher-spec KYB front forks on the MT-09 SP feature full adjustability for preload, rebound and compression damping. Additionally, these front forks are equipped with low and high-speed compression damping adjusters for accurate suspension tuning.
To go hand in hand with the high-spec front suspension, the SP features premium spec sporty Öhlins rear shock absorber. These rear shocks also offer full adjustability for compression and rebound damping. Aside from this, the rear suspension set up is equipped with remote preload adjusted for quick and easy settings.
Cruise Control
As a way to enhance the overall riding experience, Yamaha adds a cruise control system on the premium spec MT-09 SP. Riders can choose to activate the cruise control system at speeds of at least 50km/h and in 4th gear and above.
2021 Yamaha MT-09 SP Price
In the case of the pricing, currently, the standard 2021 Yamaha MT-09 is priced at $9,399 in the US. Whereas the 2021 MT-09 SP is priced at $10,999. As the SP packs higher-spec suspension components, cruiser control and an exclusive styling package, we think the $1,600 bump is reasonable. So tell us, is the SP worth the extra $1,600?
