Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has officially unveiled the new KTM RC 450 in China, marking a significant shift in the brand’s approach to its smaller-capacity sportbike lineup. Unlike previous RC models that relied on single-cylinder engines, the RC 450 introduces a twin-cylinder configuration, signalling KTM’s move towards higher performance and refinement in the segment.
Powering the RC 450 is a liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces around 55 to 56 hp and 39 Nm of torque. The engine adopts a 270-degree crankshaft, a setup known for delivering a more engaging riding character and stronger mid-range performance.
Paired with a six-speed gearbox, the bike also features a slipper-and-assist clutch and a quickshifter, enhancing both performance and rideability. With a claimed top speed of 195 km/h, the RC 450 positions itself as one of the most powerful motorcycles in the 450cc supersport category.

Industry reports suggest that the RC 450 shares several components with models from CFMoto, including the engine platform from the CFMoto 450SR and parts of the chassis and swingarm from the CFMoto 450SR-S. Despite this, KTM is expected to differentiate the RC 450 through its own tuning, chassis setup and overall riding dynamics.
In terms of design, the RC 450 takes clear inspiration from KTM’s larger sportbike lineup, particularly the KTM 990 RC R. The bike features aggressive bodywork, sharp lines and aerodynamic winglets, giving it a race-ready appearance that aligns with KTM’s modern design language.
The RC 450 is equipped with 17-inch wheels fitted with 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyres. Suspension duties are handled by WP-sourced upside-down forks at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear, while braking performance is managed by disc brakes supported by WP braking systems.

On the technology front, the bike comes with a comprehensive electronics package that includes Bosch-sourced lean-angle traction control, dual-channel ABS, cruise control and ride-by-wire throttle with selectable riding modes. A TFT digital display with connectivity features is also standard, while optional equipment such as heated grips and tyre pressure monitoring adds further convenience.
While this version of the RC 450 is believed to be a China-specific model, KTM is reportedly developing a global version of the bike in collaboration with Bajaj Auto. The international variant is expected to arrive around 2027 and will likely be manufactured in India, helping to make the bike more accessible to a wider market.
Although not yet officially listed on KTM China’s website, the RC 450 represents KTM’s first serious step into the twin-cylinder 450cc supersport category. More importantly, it offers a glimpse into the future direction of KTM’s entry-level performance bikes, combining higher performance, advanced technology and a more refined riding experience.
