KTM has officially pulled the covers off its new middleweight sportbike, the KTM 450 RC but for now, it’s a China-only release. While the bike has been on enthusiasts’ radar since early test sightings and regulatory leaks, its debut still manages to bring a fresh twist to KTM’s growing lineup of smaller-displacement machines.
At first glance, the 450 RC carries unmistakable KTM DNA. Its sharp fairings, aggressive stance, and signature orange finish echo the design language seen on the larger KTM 990 RC R. A centrally mounted headlight flanked by aerodynamic winglets gives the bike a purposeful, track-ready look, while the clean bodywork keeps things modern and cohesive.

Underneath that bold styling, however, lies a familiar foundation. The bike shares its core platform with the CFMoto 450SR-S, but KTM has gone further than just rebadging. The 450 RC gets a reworked version of the 450cc parallel-twin engine, now producing slightly more power and revving higher than its counterpart. It delivers 55 horsepower, giving it a noticeable edge in performance within its class.
Weight is another area where KTM has fine-tuned the package. The 450 RC comes in lighter than its CFMoto sibling, which should translate into sharper handling and improved agility, something sportbike riders will appreciate, especially on twisty roads or track days.
KTM has also made meaningful upgrades to the hardware. Suspension duties are handled by WP components, including fully adjustable front forks and a rear shock that allows riders to fine-tune the setup. Braking performance gets a boost as well, with KTM introducing its own braking components on this model, paired with a radial front caliper and a large disc for confident stopping power.

Electronics play a big role in the overall riding experience. The 450 RC comes equipped with ride-by-wire throttle, multiple riding modes, including Street, Rain, and Sport, and an optional Track mode for more spirited riding. Features like traction control, cornering ABS, cruise control, and even a tire pressure monitoring system round out a surprisingly comprehensive tech package for a bike in this segment.
Despite its promising specs and strong positioning, the 450 RC’s availability remains limited. KTM has yet to confirm plans for a global release, and there are hints that this particular model may stay exclusive to the Chinese market. With KTM also developing a new sub-500cc twin-cylinder platform for future bikes, it’s possible that other regions may eventually get a different model altogether.
For now, the KTM 450 RC stands as an interesting glimpse into the brand’s evolving approach to lightweight sportbikes, blending shared engineering with distinct performance upgrades and unmistakable styling.
