Follow these 5 steps so you know what you need to prepare before embarking on a solo adventure on your motorcycle.

Sometimes we feel feel the need to go for a ride, not a convoy ride with friends, but a solo ride. Going for a solo ride is not because of loneliness, but sometimes because we want to try a solo ride without having to follow our friends’ plans or being tied to the tentativeness of a group ride. Sometimes there are also riders who are more comfortable riding solo than riding in a group.

There’s nothing wrong with going on a solo ride, but preparations must be made very carefully because we want to ride alone without anyone accompanying us. So, these are 5 mandatory things that you guys need to prepare before going out for a solo ride.

Riding Solo Preparations

1. Check the condition of the motorcycle

If you want to go for a ride, obviously you’ll need a motorcycle. So, it is very important to make sure your motorcycle is in good condition before starting the trip. Make sure to check your motorcycle’s oil, check your brakes, check your tires and any other components of your motorcycle.

We don’t want our motorbikes to suddenly causing trouble while on the road, or worse, breaking down in a place where there are not many people. So to avoid that from happening, make sure your motorbike is in tip-top condition for your solo adventure.

Riding Solo Preparations

2. Route Plan & Backup Route

When you want to go for a ride, you must know the destination you’re heading to. So it is very important to plan your route. You can plan which route is the best, where you want to stop for a rest, and so on.

It is also important for you to plan a backup route for your ride. Sometimes we can’t predict what will happen when we go out for a ride. Maybe the original route is suddenly jammed, maybe there is an obstacle, maybe there is a better alternative route to take. So apart from planning your riding route, planning a backup route is also quite important for your convenience when riding.

Riding Solo Preparations

3. Bring the Essentials

Not only do you need to prepare your motorbike, you also need to be prepared for this solo adventure. Important personal essentials such as your IC and license should always be with you because they are very important, especially if you guys pass a roadblock during your ride. You guys also need to have cash on standby as a precaution in case you need to buy something in a place where the connection is not very strong or doesn’t have a QR.

Mobile phones are also very important items when riding solo, so making sure it is always charged is a step that must be taken. Therefore, a power bank is very useful when riding long distances. A motorcycle phone holder is also important so that it is easier to look at maps and you don’t have to hold your mobile phone while riding.

Riding Solo Preparations

4. Safety Gear

If you want to go for a ride, safety must also be taken care of. That is the most important thing when riding, whether riding solo or in a group. Wearing a helmet is the most basic thing to practice. It is recommended to wear a full face helmet so that it can help to fully protect the head.

Gloves are also important to help protect your hands, and jackets help to add extra protection to your body. It is better to wear a jacket that already has padding and also pants that have padding to provide extra protection.

Riding Solo Preparations

5. Tell Friends and Family Members

Even though riding solo means riding alone without a companion, it doesn’t mean that family and friends don’t need to know where you are. It’s best to tell your family or friends where you want to go. At least they can identify where you want to go in case there are any problems.

It’s better if you turn on live location as well. So you don’t have to update every time you arrive at your destination and live location will show your latest location without you having to tell them. This provides convenience for you and also for your family and friends as they will not have to worry about your updates on your whereabouts.

Conclusion

Solo riding is really the best. You can really feel the freedom when riding solo. No need to worry about being left behind, no need to worry about not being on time, just you and your motorbike on the road. However, it is best to remember to take care of yourself at all times. Riding far away to someplace new, we don’t want anything unwanted to happen. Follow these steps, and your next solo ride will definitely be a very exciting experience.
