The national female racer switches teams after two seasons with Team GP3 AD11 as she prepares to compete on a Yamaha R7 in Europe.

Malaysian female rider Saidatul Zakirah Zairin will embark on a new chapter in her racing career after confirming her move to Sommariva Corse for the 2026 FIM Women’s European Championship.
After spending the past two seasons with Team GP3 AD11, Zakirah will now compete with the Italian-based outfit as she continues her journey on the European racing stage.
For the upcoming 2026 campaign, Zakirah will race aboard a Yamaha R7, with her contract with Sommariva Corse running until the end of the season.
The move marks an important step in Zakirah’s development as she aims to challenge for stronger results in the highly competitive women’s championship.
Sommariva Corse welcomed the Malaysian rider as the newest addition to their squad, highlighting both her experience and determination to grow further in the sport.

“A new addition to our team! Zakirah Saidatul is starting the European Championships. She brings experience and a great desire to get involved. We’re very happy to have her on the team and to be able to offer her all the support she needs to continue to grow,” the team said.
Speaking about the opportunity, Zakirah expressed excitement about joining the new team and continuing her development in European racing.
“I’m really excited to be joining Sommariva Corse for the 2026 FIM Women’s European Championship,” she said.
“I’m grateful for the trust they’ve placed in me and I’m looking forward to working closely with the team this season. Racing is never an individual effort, and I truly believe strong teamwork makes the difference on track.”
She added that her focus will be on improving consistently throughout the season while working closely with the team to maximise performance.
“I’m ready to put in the work, keep improving, and give everything I have to achieve the results we’re capable of together. Let’s make this season count.”

Zakirah also stated that joining Sommariva Corse presents a valuable opportunity to build a strong working relationship with a new team environment.
“My goal this season is to continue improving as a rider and to work closely with the team so we can maximise our potential together and aim for strong, consistent performances throughout the championship,” she explained to us.
She also emphasised that communication between rider and team will be key to achieving competitive results during race weekends.
“Racing is always a collective effort, so good communication and understanding between the rider and the team will be very important. I’m hoping we can develop that connection quickly and find a good rhythm together during race weekends.”
With the 2026 FIM Women’s European Championship approaching, Zakirah will be hoping her move to Sommariva Corse helps unlock a new level of performance as she continues to represent Malaysia on the international racing stage.
