Monster Energy Honda HRC Rally 2 riders Martim Ventura and Preston Campbell head into the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal 2026 with confidence, looking to build on their impressive performances at this year’s Dakar Rally. As Round 2 of the 2026 Rally-Raid World Cup (Rally2 class), the event presents a fresh challenge and a valuable opportunity to carry early-season momentum forward.
The rally kicks off on 17 March with a short prologue in Grândola, before expanding into a demanding six-day contest covering more than 2,000 kilometres. Known for its fast gravel tracks and technical navigation, Rally-Raid Portugal also features a cross-border route into Spain before heading south toward the Algarve finish. The varied terrain is expected to test both speed and precision, offering a different dynamic compared to the desert conditions of Dakar.
For Martim Ventura, the event holds extra significance as he returns to compete on home soil. The Portuguese rider made headlines at last year’s edition by securing his first World Rally-Raid Championship stage victory on his Honda debut.
Now, coming off an impressive third-place finish at his first Dakar Rally, Ventura arrives in strong form and will be eager to deliver in front of local fans aboard the Honda CRF450 RX RALLY.
Teammate Preston Campbell also enters the rally with momentum, having secured a runner-up finish in the Rally2 category at Dakar. The young American has spent time recovering and training since the season opener and is optimistic about the shift in terrain. With prior experience in Portugal, Campbell arrives better prepared for the rally’s unique demands and aims to contend for victory in his class.
The team has already completed its preparations in Grândola, including shakedown runs, with both riders feeling confident ahead of the opening prologue. While only six kilometres in length, the prologue could play a crucial role in setting the tone for the days ahead, making a strong start a key objective.
Ventura and Campbell combine home advantage, proven pace, and growing confidence to position themselves strongly to make their mark as the Rally-Raid World Cup continues in Portugal.
