Ducati DesertX Returns Sharper and Stronger

Ducati DesertX Returns Sharper and Stronger

Ducati unveils the second-generation DesertX with a new 890cc V2 engine, upgraded suspension, smarter electronics, and improved off-road performance.

Ducati has unveiled the second-generation Ducati DesertX, and this isn’t just a light refresh. It’s a proper upgrade shaped by real-world punishment.

We’re talking years of testing in brutal events like Erzbergrodeo and desert rallies. The new DesertX is built to go harder off-road, without losing that unmistakable Ducati feel on the road.

New Engine, More Punch

At the heart of it sits Ducati’s new 890cc V2 engine, lighter than before and packing 110 hp with 87 lb-ft of torque. The power delivery is smooth but strong, with plenty of torque available low in the rev range, which means better drive out of corners and easier control on loose terrain.

Gear ratios are smarter too:

  • Shorter lower gears for technical trails
  • Longer sixth gear for relaxed highway cruising

Basically, it crawls better and cruises better.

Built to Take a Beating

The monocoque frame keeps things compact and rigid, while new suspension upgrades, including a refined Kayaba fork and progressive rear linkage, make it more composed over rough ground.

Braking comes from Brembo, with strong stopping power that still offers good feel when you’re riding off-road.

The 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels stay, wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Rally Street tires, ready for mixed terrain straight out of the box.

Smarter Tech, Cleaner Setup

Electronics get a serious boost. A 6-axis IMU manages Cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and engine brake control, all adjustable through six riding modes, including Enduro and Rally for dirt duty.

There’s also a new 5-inch TFT display with different viewing modes, plus Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 for cleaner, more precise gear changes.

More Rider-Friendly

The ergonomics have been tweaked for better control when standing, and the new 4.8-gallon fuel tank is slimmer and positioned lower to improve balance. It’s lighter, easier to move around on, and still tough enough to handle off-road drops.

Seat height sits at 34.6 inches, but you can lower it if needed.
