The Moto4 Asia Cup Official Test wrapped up on an encouraging note for Malaysia’s young talents after three productive days at PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit from 8 to 10 February 2026.
More than just a timing exercise, the test served as a crucial platform for the riders to fine-tune their machines, adapt to race conditions, and build consistency ahead of the new season. Battling intense heat and a competitive field, all three Malaysian representatives demonstrated steady progress and promising pace throughout the sessions.
Qabil Irfan Delivers Consistent Pace
Qabil Irfan emerged as one of the standout performers of the test. Lap after lap, he maintained strong and reliable pace, avoiding mistakes while steadily improving his times. His disciplined approach paid off with an impressive second overall finish.
He focused heavily on consistency and tyre management, especially under Sepang’s demanding temperatures. The experience allowed him to better understand race rhythm and strategy, giving him added confidence heading into the opening round.
Qayyim Razin Shows Clear Improvement
Qayyim Razin’s performance reflected a clear upward trajectory. He grew more comfortable with each session, gradually closing the gap to the front group. Competing alongside quicker and more experienced riders pushed him to raise his level, both technically and mentally.
The intense on-track battles helped sharpen his race craft and decision-making. By the end of the test, his improved lap times secured him 11th overall, a solid foundation to build on for the season ahead.
Naqib Rifqi Stays Steady Under Pressure
Naqib Rifqi adopted a calm and measured strategy throughout the test. Rather than chasing outright speed early on, he prioritised stability and clean laps. His consistent rhythm across the two days earned him sixth overall.
Despite the physically demanding weather, he remained focused and treated the challenge as part of his preparation. He acknowledged that further gains in fitness, mental strength, and riding technique will be key to unlocking even better performances.
Focus Shifts to Round One
With valuable data collected, SIC Racing will now analyse the results and address areas for refinement before the season opener. The first round is scheduled for 27–28 February in Buriram, Thailand, where competition is expected to intensify.
While the official test does not determine championship points, it offered a clear signal that Malaysia’s riders are well prepared and capable of fighting near the front. If this momentum carries forward, the upcoming round could mark an exciting start to their Moto4 Asia Cup campaign.
