OMOWAY, a startup focused on intelligent two-wheeled mobility, has secured new funding to accelerate the commercial launch of what it says will be the world’s first mass-produced self-balancing electric motorcycle.

The company recently closed consecutive Pre-A and Pre-A+ investment rounds, raising tens of millions of US dollars. The funding was led by Hongshan and Rocket Capital, with continued participation from existing investors including ZhenFund, Hui Capital, and OMOWAY founder Todd He.

The new capital will support mass production of OMOWAY’s flagship model, the OMO X, further development of its intelligent software systems, and expansion into international markets.

From prototype to production

OMOWAY’s core breakthrough lies in taking self-balancing technology beyond experimental prototypes and into scalable manufacturing. By tightly integrating software control, AI algorithms, and electronic architecture, the OMO X offers low-speed balance assistance that works almost invisibly in the background.

The system allows riders to stay upright during stop-and-go traffic without needing to put their feet down, making urban riding less tiring and significantly easier for new riders.

With the OMO X now completing pre-production validation and entering the final stage before launch, OMOWAY believes it is on track to deliver the first self-balancing electric motorcycle available at scale.

A new class of “MotoRobot”

OMOWAY does not position the OMO X as just another electric bike, but as a new category of intelligent two-wheelers. The vehicle combines self-balancing with AI-based perception systems that can detect potential hazards, issue safety warnings, and intervene when necessary.

The system also supports features such as hill-hold stability and low-speed control, allowing the motorcycle to actively assist the rider rather than simply respond to inputs. OMOWAY refers to this evolution as the shift from a traditional motorcycle to what it calls a “MotoRobot.”

Southeast Asia first

The OMO X will make its commercial debut in Indonesia, one of the world’s largest and most competitive motorcycle markets. OMOWAY has already partnered with more than ten local distributors to establish a strong retail and service network.

“Local dealers understand the market far better than anyone else,” said Yulong Chen, General Manager of OMOWAY Indonesia. “Their experience helps ensure that the product fits real-world needs from day one.”

OMOWAY sees Southeast Asia as a crucial testing ground for its technology, allowing it to gather real-world data and refine its systems before expanding further globally.

Looking ahead

Designed with international markets in mind, the OMO X represents OMOWAY’s ambition to redefine how people think about motorcycles, not just as vehicles, but as intelligent mobility platforms.

As the company moves from development into delivery, it aims to offer riders a safer, smarter, and more accessible way to experience two-wheeled transport beginning in Southeast Asia, and eventually worldwide.
