According to Crash.net, the three-time World Superbike champion Toprak Razgatlioglu says he is fully committed to adapting for his highly anticipated MotoGP debut in 2026, insisting that he “will find a way” to make the transition work. The Turkish superstar spoke during the FIM Awards in Switzerland, reflecting on his next chapter as he prepares to join Pramac Yamaha next season.
The move, announced earlier this year, finally brings Razgatlioglu to the MotoGP grid after years of speculation. Fresh off securing his third WorldSBK title in 2025, Toprak believes now is the right moment to make the switch, even if it means a steep learning curve ahead.
His rookie season will be contested on Michelin tyres, which differ significantly from the Pirellis he mastered in WorldSBK. While MotoGP is set to adopt Pirelli tyres in 2027, Razgatlioglu says he is already reshaping his riding technique to suit the Michelins.
“This is a really big challenge for me, but I always try to do my best,” he said. “I’m changing my style a little bit. But only for one year, because in 2027 Pirelli is coming, and maybe at that time I will need to come back to my style again. But we will see. I think I will find a way.”
Razgatlioglu also shared that he had meaningful conversations with Marc Marquez regarding the MotoGP test, adding that he remains “relaxed” and open to learning as much as possible during the transition.
The Turkish rider made a strong first impression during his public MotoGP test debut in Valencia last month. He finished as the top rookie, clocking a time just 1.3 seconds off the fastest lap, reinforcing expectations that he may adapt quicker than anticipated.
While expectations for his 2026 season remain conservative, Razgatlioglu is expected to play a major role in Yamaha’s 2027 development project, especially with his familiarity with Pirelli tyres. For now, his focus is on understanding the Yamaha MotoGP machine and evolving his style, one step at a time.
