Repsol Honda HRC heads into the final round of the X-Trial World Championship as the team to beat, with both of its riders firmly placed in the title fight ahead of this weekend’s double-header in Ponte di Legno, Italy. The Italian town will make its debut as a World Championship venue, hosting two decisive rounds at the Palasport on Saturday and Sunday night.
After three rounds of competition in the 2026 season, Toni Bou currently leads the overall standings with 55 points. The 11-point gap to his nearest rival underlines his strong form, having secured two consecutive victories followed by a second-place finish. Although Bou has previously ridden in Ponte di Legno, this weekend marks his first time racing there in a World Championship event, adding another layer of challenge to the season finale.
Despite managing his physical condition carefully in the early part of the season, Bou has delivered consistent results and now targets a double victory in Italy to strengthen his advantage heading into the Christmas break. With a significant number of points available across the two races, focus and precision will be crucial as any mistake could prove costly.
Teammate Gabriel Marcelli arrives in third place in the championship with 42 points, having scored three consecutive podium finishes so far this season aboard the Montesa Cota 4RT. The Spanish rider is now pushing for his first indoor X-Trial victory and sees the Ponte di Legno double-header as a major opportunity to break through for a win. Beyond that, Marcelli will also be aiming to overtake Jaime in the standings and reclaim second place overall.
Team Manager Takahisa Fujinami expressed strong confidence in both riders heading into the weekend, pointing to the consistency Bou has shown across all rounds and the steady progress Marcelli continues to make at the highest level of indoor trial competition. With momentum firmly on their side, Repsol Honda HRC enters the finale ready to capitalise.
Both races will take place at the Palasport in Ponte di Legno, with the lights going green at 8:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
