Yamaha Motor Europe has locked in one of the most exciting pairings in modern motocross. Karlis and Janis Reisulis will spearhead Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2’s 2026 campaign aboard the factory YZ250F.

The Dutch-based factory team has retained 20-year-old Karlis for a second season in MX2, while also promoting his younger brother Janis to the premier 250cc world stage after an outstanding title charge in EMX250.

Karlis returns after a strong rookie year

Karlis completed his first full MX2 season in 2025 and showed solid progression across the calendar, finding more speed, race consistency and top-10 potential as the year unfolded. Yamaha believes there is far more to unlock, and continuity was key.

Janis earns factory graduation after EMX domination

Janis’ arrival in MX2 had become inevitable. In just three seasons, he went from EMX125 champion (2023) to EMX250 champion (2025). That 2025 campaign was emphatic: 10 race wins, 5 overall victories and 7 podiums. Yamaha’s factory step was the natural next move.

Yamaha sees both talent and trajectory

For Yamaha management, the stories and headlines are nice, but the results are the basis.

The 2026 Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 effort focuses on developing the brothers into weekly contenders, aiming not just for top-10s but for podiums and wins.

And for the Reisulis name, 2026 could be the season both brothers arrive on the world stage together.
