Rueda’s promotion comes as little surprise. The Andalusian rider is currently leading the 2025 Moto3 championship by a commanding 78 points. He collected eight wins and eleven podiums aboard his KTM RC4 in only his third season in the category. His rapid rise follows a glittering junior career that included a double crown in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and FIM JuniorGP in 2022. Rueda is setting the stage for a seamless transition into the world championship.

With an uncanny ability to adapt to higher levels of competition, Rueda has become one of the paddock’s most coveted young talents. His move to Moto2 clearly rewards his dominance. It also reinforces KTM’s commitment to nurturing future MotoGP stars through its GP Academy program.

Continuing the Ajo Legacy

The Red Bull KTM Ajo team has a proven track record of transforming promising juniors into premier-class contenders. Since 2020, seven riders have graduated from Ajo’s ranks to the MotoGP grid. Rueda now joins a list of academy standouts who have competed in both Moto3 and Moto2 under team principal Aki Ajo.

Team manager Niklas Ajo praised the decision to retain Rueda within the KTM family. He noted his great potential for the future in Moto2 and expressed excitement over pairing two riders who both emerged from the Red Bull Rookies Cup. The shared academy background between Rueda and Veijer promises strong camaraderie and healthy competition inside the garage.

Eyes on the Future

For Rueda, the Moto2 challenge represents a new mountain to climb. The class is notorious for its depth of talent and the physical demands of its Triumph-powered machinery. Yet, the young Spaniard embraces the opportunity with trademark confidence. Rueda is eager to learn, adapt, and continue his dream journey with the team that first trusted him on the world stage.

The combination of Rueda’s relentless drive and Ajo’s championship-winning structure could produce fireworks as early as his rookie season. The 2026 Moto2 campaign might just be the next launchpad for one of Spain’s brightest future stars.

Jose Antonio Rueda’s step up to Moto2 with Red Bull KTM Ajo cements his status as one of motorcycle racing’s hottest prospects. Backed by a dominant Moto3 campaign and the support of KTM’s elite academy, the 19-year-old enters 2026 ready to chase new milestones.
