Honda has officially entered the electric motorcycle market in Europe with the launch of the Honda WN7. It is a striking new model that blends the company’s legendary engineering with a zero-emissions future. Positioned as a “Fun” segment naked bike, the WN7 is more than just a commuter. It’s a bold statement of Honda’s electric ambitions and a showcase of what the next generation of performance-focused EV motorcycles can deliver.

A New Era for Honda Motorcycles

The WN7 arrives as a key milestone in Honda’s plan to achieve carbon neutrality across all products and corporate activities by 2050. The brand is en route to make all motorcycle products carbon-neutral by the 2040s. Honda designated 2024 as the first year of global expansion for its electric motorcycles. This marks the start of a rapidly growing lineup that will eventually include everything from daily commuters to thrill-seeking performance models.

Inspired by the “Wind”

The name WN7 carries a layered meaning. “W” stands for the development concept Be the Wind, “N” for Naked, and 7 signifies its output class. First previewed as the EV Fun Concept at EICMA 2024 in Milan, the production model embodies Honda’s 75 years of motorcycle expertise, reimagined for an electric age.

Performance Meets Electrification

Honda promises that the WN7 delivers performance on par with 600cc internal-combustion sportbikes in output and torque levels comparable to 1000cc machines. It offers instant electric acceleration with the smoothness only an EV can provide. Riders can expect an estimated range of over 130 km (83 miles) thanks to a fixed lithium-ion battery.

Charging is designed to be quick and flexible:

  • CCS2 fast-charging capability allows a 20%–80% top-up in just 30 minutes.
  • Home charging can fully replenish the battery in under 3 hours.

Design and Technology

The WN7 wears a slim, futuristic design that highlights the possibilities of electric engineering while maintaining the sleek aggression of a streetfighter. A 5-inch TFT display integrates with Honda RoadSync for smartphone connectivity, navigation, and ride data. This ensures a connected experience for modern riders.

Honda’s Broader Electric Vision

The WN7 represents only the beginning of Honda’s electric push. By offering a full range of electric motorcycles, from urban commuters to high-performance models like the WN7, Honda aims to meet diverse customer needs while cutting emissions across its global portfolio.

The Honda WN7 marks a new chapter in the brand’s storied motorcycle history. With sharp styling, rapid charging, and performance to rival mid-sized combustion bikes, Honda’s first electric naked machine sets the tone for an exciting, sustainable future of two-wheeled fun.
