The 2025 Yamaha BLU CRU Master Camp in Valencia fired into life with pure star power as Jonathan Rea and Remy Gardner turned up to mentor the next wave of racing talent. From high-intensity drills to the thrill of flat track, the opening day delivered lessons and memories that the ten young riders won’t soon forget.

Legends Meet the Future

Fresh off announcing his retirement from full-time racing, six-time WorldSBK Champion Jonathan Rea swapped the grid for the role of mentor, teaming up with 2021 Moto2 World Champion and current WorldSBK rider Remy Gardner. The duo joined a diverse line-up of BLU CRU riders hailing from Italy, the USA, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, Australia, Thailand, and Spain, creating the perfect mix of global talent and world-class experience.

Names like Alessandro Di Persio, Christopher Clark, Mario Salles, Arai Agaska, Hinata Okada, Valentino Knezovic, Thanakit Pratumtong, Leonardo Marques, Rintaro Takemoto, and Natalia Rivera may not be household names yet but under the watchful eyes of Rea and Gardner, they’re already learning what it takes to get there.

Sweat, Skills, and Smiles

The day started with a four-hour technical session led by coach Kike Bañuls. This wasn’t just about twisting the throttle; it was precision riding, overtaking strategy, bike control, and even practising how to bounce back after a crash. Grueling? Absolutely. But every drill was a step closer to mastering the craft.

If the morning was about discipline, the afternoon was about controlled chaos. Flat track guru Marco Belli joined Rea and Gardner at the Aspar Motorsport complex, introducing the riders to a whole new world of sideways action. Many had never touched a flat track bike before, but within hours, they were sliding, adjusting, and learning how to dance with the dirt. The improvement was instant—and the grins at the end said it all.

Rea’s Take

“It was a really cool day,” Rea admitted, still buzzing from the energy of the camp. “Flat track is all about losing traction, and in road racing that happens a lot. Seeing how quickly these guys picked it up after such a tough morning was impressive. The Master Camp shows Yamaha’s real commitment to the next generation of champions.”

What’s Next?

Day two won’t be slowing down. Riders will hit the dirt again in the morning before trading bikes for Yamaha WaveRunners at Valencia Marina, guided by multi-time world jet-ski champion Chris MacClugage. And if that’s not enough, MotoGP star Alex Rins will be on hand in the afternoon to add his insight.

The Bigger Picture

The Yamaha BLU CRU Master Camp isn’t just training—it’s a launchpad. It’s where tomorrow’s heroes learn from today’s legends, discovering not just techniques but also the mindset that makes a champion. For the ten young riders in Valencia, day one was tough, sweaty, and demanding. But more importantly, it was unforgettable.
