Malaysian rising star Hakim Danish is ready to take on a brand-new challenge this weekend as the FIM JuniorGP World Championship lands at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours for the first time in its history. Known for its technical layout with 17 corners (9 right, 8 left), the circuit, opened in 1960, has hosted a multitude of motorsport spectacles, including the FIM World Superbike Championship since 2003.

Currently 4th in the overall standings with 38 points, Hakim trails championship leader Brian Uriarte by just 37 points, keeping the title chase alive as the championship heads into Round 3.

Groundwork in Barcelona

Since relocating to Barcelona in May 2025, Hakim has immersed himself in an intense training regime, preparing not only for the JuniorGP but also the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, where Uriarte is once again a key rival. During this time, Hakim also joined forces with fellow Malaysian talent Qabil Irfan, who was in Spain for the ESBK Rounds 2 and 3, offering mutual support both on and off the track.

In preparation for the technical demands of Magny-Cours, Hakim and the SIC Racing MSI team conducted a private test at the circuit two weeks ago. The team expects the data collected during the test to play a crucial role in race setup and strategy for the weekend.

“This track is quite technical,” Hakim says. “I’m still working on improving my riding and finding the right setup. Hopefully, everything comes together for the race.”

Race Strategy and Team Confidence

SIC Racing MSI Team Manager Zulfahmi Khairuddin remains confident in Hakim’s ability to deliver under pressure, stating:

“Our target this week is to get back on the podium. Danish is focused, motivated, and we’ve got solid data from the test. I believe both the team and rider are ready to challenge at the front.”

Zulfahmi, a former Moto3 racer himself, emphasised the team’s determination to maintain momentum and secure a strong result to stay within striking distance of the championship lead.
