Five-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik has once again proven he’s a champion both on and off the track by stepping in to support an aspiring young rider who lost all his speedway equipment to theft.
11-year-old Jakub Godzina, a promising rider from Stal Gorzow, was left heartbroken after thieves stole his entire racing setup from the parking lot of his apartment building in Wawrów, near Gorzów, on Sunday night. The stolen van contained a motocross bike, two bicycles, and a full set of speedway gear—including Jakub’s helmet, valued at around 40,000 PLN. Police later discovered the van abandoned in nearby woodland, but the thieves had already taken all the equipment.
When Zmarzlik heard about Jakub’s plight, he immediately took action. Teaming up with his main sponsor Orlen, the Polish star arranged to provide Jakub with a new speedway motorcycle and helmet, ensuring the youngster could return to training without missing a beat.
Zmarzlik shared the news on his official Facebook page:
“Kuba! Together with the Orlen Team we have good news for you. You will get a new motorcycle and helmet from us, so you can get back to training in a moment. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for you!”
Fans and the speedway community widely praised the heartfelt gesture, applauding Zmarzlik for his generosity and leadership as a role model.
As Zmarzlik prepares to chase his third consecutive win at the OlyBet FIM Speedway GP of Latvia – Riga this Saturday, one thing is certain: he’ll have at least one very enthusiastic supporter in the Godzina household cheering him on.
In a sport built on courage and community, Zmarzlik’s act of kindness reminds us that true champions lift others, on and off the track.
